DevOps Engineer

Remote or Vienna, Austria
World Data Lab (WDL) is a data enterprise that produces the most consistent and credible estimates for spending and demography. Their data models are global, granular, and forward-looking and track the Sustainable Development Goals in real-time, helping provide unique insights for businesses. WDL research has appeared on CNN, in The Economist, and in the Financial Times. Their clients include HSBC, L'Oreal, and Citibank. WDL advisory board includes leading representatives of the World Bank, Brookings Institution, and academia.
Tasks:
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Actively manage and monitor all Cloud instances and services
  • Build and manage the Cloud server infrastructure
  • Implement and maintain a monitoring/metrics/logging platform for all WDL projects
  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
  • Working with Development and Product team to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
  • Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions
Must-have:
  • 2+ years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, GitHub (actions), Kubernetes, and Relational DBS (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Strong knowledge of agile development processes and current best practices
  • Willingness to work in a fast-moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Ability to work with a broad range of technical areas and leverage skill-set within and across different teams
  • Capacity to guide the development of complex projects that involve data scientists, product owners, and designers
  • Fluent in English
Nice-to-have:
  •  Java and/or Python
  • Experience in working with Jira, Grafana, Graylog (or any other centralized logging framework)
