As a Technical Animator at HOLOGATE, you won’t just be crafting animations – you’ll be forging the very blueprint of interactive storytelling. From the intricacies of animation pipelines to the art of character rigging and asset integration, your expertise will be at the forefront of our animation production. Collaborating closely with fellow animators, talented artists, and brilliant engineers, you’ll play an integral role in transforming ideas into captivating, unforgettable characters that will captivate VR users worldwide.

Tasks:
  • Create and maintain control rigs, animation blueprints & state machines
  • Create animation montages & blend spaces
  • Utilize Unreal Engine to design and build animation systems and behaviors
  • Engage in cross-departmental collaboration to prototype, address, and integrate technical animation features
  • Take responsibility for the development and upkeep of the animation pipeline
  • Actively collaborate with design, programming, and creative direction teams
  • Effectively communicate and document animation processes and recommended practices
Must-have:
  • Experience with Unreal Engine and a good understanding of game animation systems
  • Experience with Inverse Kinematics, Retargeting, Deformation
  • Python and Blueprint skills
  • Ability to create skeletons and skinweights for complex character assets
  • Understanding of rigging pipelines and game-specific technical constraints
  • Experience with industry standard animation tools (Blender, Maya, MotionBuilder)
  • Ability to identify and solve bottlenecks within the animation pipeline
  • Good English verbal skills, both orally and in writing
Nice-have:
  • Knowledge of motion capture systems like Move AI
  • Knowledge of artistic human anatomy and motion
  • Experience in automating animation workflows
  • Experience in animating for VR
  • Experience with physics-based animations/ragdolls
