DevOps Engineer

Founded in 2019, Volkswagen Digital Solutions (VWDS) plays a major role in the Volkswagen Group strategy of going digital, by developing software mainly for the digital ecosystems and internal corporate processes.
Split across 3 tech units: CODE (Core Operations + Development), MAN Digital Hub and SDC (Software Development Center), VWDS plays a key part of the digitalization strategy that is happening in the Group.
Tasks:
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Work with stakeholders including the Product, Data, and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
  • Keep the data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers and AWS regions
  • Actively contribute to tech and architecture decisions
  • Implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines
  • Understand and implement principles around security, logging, and monitoring of running products
  • Automate application build processes
  • Automate OS and application deployments (server, configurations, application code)
  • Take part in the applications development lifecycle assisting developers to build, debug and deploy our product and services as well as sort connectivity issues altogether
Must-have:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or other similar area
  • 6+ years of experience working in related field or comparable job expertise 
  • Willingness to move to Portugal

  • Strong experience with AWS services such as CloudFormation, EC2, S3, EFS, Data Pipeline, RDS, Route 53, CDK
  • Experience with AWS databases like DynamoDB
  • Software Development Background
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) to build required automation and tools on an ad-hoc basis
  • Experience with dashboard, log management, and monitoring tools. (e.g. Newrelic, Cloudwatch, Splunk, etc.)
  • Knowledge of application clustering/load balancing/high availability concepts and technologies
  • Knowledge of protocols/technologies like HTTP, SSL, ANT, JDBC, Servlet/JSP, SQL, XML, JSON, HTML
  • Experience in Operational Readiness (Functionality, Reliability, Usability, Efficiency, Changeability, Transferability)
  • Proficient knowledge in designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of Serverless Architecture
  • Familiarity with automated testing methodologies, and continuous integration concepts
  • Linux administration experience
  • Good communication skills and teamwork
