They are currently seeking a Lead Concept Artist to help the team on their next adventure. The ideal candidate enjoys putting their skills and knowledge to use in a variety of styles. Your broader experience in game development and the environment pipeline will help you work collaboratively with designers, concept artists, technical artists, and animators to create an immersive and epic experience.

Tasks:
  • Lead and mentor a team of concept artists, ensuring that each has clear, concrete tasks, goals, and regular constructive feedback
  • Partner closely with producers in helping delegate tasks, staff plan, and arrange meetings as needed to ensure individuals’ workloads are manageable and the team’s deliverables can be completed on schedule
  • Provide time and cost estimates to build the art budgets for potential and current projects in collaboration with the creative leadership team
  • Work with clients in upholding their artistic vision and ensuring outgoing work is technically sound and meets artistic standards
  • Build and maintain partner and client relationships, trust and communication
  • Explore opportunities to artistically and technically innovate, streamline tools and processes, and champion best practices for the team
  • Stay on top of industry standards and identify new tools and technologies to improve content production.
  • Support project content creation and concept needs when needed
  • Help continue to expand the capabilities of the Concept Art team through training, mentorship, team building, and refinements of process and technique
  • Work closely with HR and management in carrying out key department responsibilities that include hiring, onboarding, appraising performance and resolving issues
  • Be proactive about elevating your team’s concerns to the larger team and making sure that your discipline is well-represented
Must-have:
  • An accomplished concept artist with 5+ years of experience within the game industry, with 2+ years of experience as a Lead Concept Artist
  • Thorough understanding of video game development, art processes, and production pipelines with experience working on different game genres across all platforms
  • Extensive knowledge of standard digital painting/illustration tools like Adobe PS/AI, Procreate, etc
  • Solid knowledge of fundamental art principles (shape language/colour theory/ anatomy/light/perspective) as well as current and next-gen art techniques
  • Extensive experience overseeing and managing people/artists and teams
  • Passionate about mentoring others in order to further develop their artistic and technical skill sets
  • Highly creative and flexible in visualising different art styles
  • Excellent skills communicating through sketches, thumbnails, and paintovers
  • Good understanding of which style and visuals are expected in each task or project
  • A demonstrable commitment to creative collaboration within a team and with other departments
  • Experience in creating,  documenting, and championing concept art workflows and pipelines
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Professional working English proficiency
Nice to have:
  • 3D modelling skills and working knowledge of a 3D package (3DS Max/Maya/Zbrush) are a strong plus
