Company
Renewcast is a leader in wind power generation forecasting, offering a proprietary SaaS platform that provides more accurate day-ahead and intra day wind production forecasts based on weather and wind turbine generator data. This technology delivers significant cost savings for wind park operators.
Description
Now the company is looking for a Data Engineer to join their growing Data & ML platform team
Tasks:
Tasks:
- Own the data foundation: from client weather/production data to curated, production-ready features
- Orchestrate workflows: Airflow (v3 preferred), Dagster, Prefect
- Batch ELT first (Databricks/Spark), with readiness for real-time ingestion when needed
- Tensor-first pipelines: xarray, Zarr, Dask — or bring NetCDF/GRIB and adapt quickly
- Observability & performance: metrics, logs, p50/p95 latency; cost/latency trade-offs
- Resilience: restartability, safe reruns/backfills, schema evolution, lineage
- Mentor and manage: delegate well, coach where needed, stay hands-on when it matters
- Collaborate across functions to align features, architecture, and SLAs
Must-have:
- 7-10+ years in Data Engineering with leadership/mentorship experience
- Strong orchestration (Airflow v3; Dagster/Prefect a plus)
- Cloud data engineering (Azure/AWS/GCP, CI/CD), containerization, version/config control
- Proven batch ELT experience (Databricks/Spark or equivalent)
- Observability and performance optimization (metrics, alerts, cost awareness)
- Building resilient pipelines (failures, reruns, schema evolution)
- Flawless English
- Must be eligible to live and work in the EU without sponsorship
Nice-to-have:
- Tensorial stack (xarray, Zarr, Dask) or scientific formats (NetCDF, GRIB)
- Kubernetes/Terraform familiarity (infra driven by DevOps)
- Data governance, lineage, and metadata tools
- Streaming systems (Kafka, Pulsar)
- Familiarity with modern delivery methods (e.g., Shape Up)
Benefits and conditions:
- Trial period: 3 months
- A dynamic start-up environment where you’ll have the freedom to shape your role
- A young, close-knit, and ambitious international team of data specialists
- Competitive compensation package plus Equity Stock Option Plan (ESOP)
- Ability to make an impact in the clean-tech space
- Flexibility of remote work with occasional collective meetups across Europe
